What motivated you to start Localnoodles?
Our motivation is very simple, when we arrived almost 5 years ago we were
searching for information concerning everyday quandaries but nothing was
available. There were a few sources of information but they were either hard to
use or didn't allow people to voice their opinions about local places or
events. It was all what this critic says, or where that model parties - I
wanted to know what the people thought. |
What is LOCALNOODLES?
Localnoodles is an online city guide that helps people (re) discover Beijing
through the insights and recommendations of folks like you. Localnoodles covers
almost every aspect of Beijing life however some of the more popular topics are
places to eat, drink, hike, play or a shaded place to relax. Above all,
Localnoodles is an easy and fun way find, review and discover what is great
about Beijing and China. |
What Should I Be Reviewing On LOCALNOODLES?
We encourage you to review those people, places and things that you love most
in Beijing. Experience is the best teacher and at Localnoodles it's your
experience that matters the most. I plan on reviewing some of the local markets
that I've stumbled upon while living in Beijing. Many of them are quickly
disappearing so I'm eager to tell others about them before they're all gone.
You may be a parent who can recommend a good school, Ayi or music teacher or a
Student that can recommend a good language tutor. The possibilities are
virtually endless. |

Why write reviews?
It's fun and gives us all another reason to go out and explore this great city!
One the best ways to learn where to go or what to do, especially in a foreign
land, is to ask someone else who has done it before. By writing about your
experiences you're helping others. Conversely, when your friends write reviews
it helps you! Additional reasons include: our rewards program, broadening your

Why doesn't Localnoodles write reviews?
Accuracy in numbers! Most publications publish reviews about one person's
experience. At Localnoodles we believe that we are all best served by listening
to the larger collective wisdom.

Try the following to refine and exact your search.

I know what I'm searching for but I don't know where it's located. Is that
a problem?
If you're not exactly sure where the thing (Temple, restaurant, hotel, etc) is
located then search using either broader terms. You should be able to quickly
find your results.

Why should I invite my friends?
If your friends knew something that would make your life easier wouldn't you
want to know? Localnoodles is fun, free and easy to use. The recommendations
you find on Localnoodles could possibly make both of your lives much richer. So
why wouldn't you? |
I invited my friend but they didn't receive the invitation. What should I
do?
Sometimes spam software misidentifies incoming mail. We recommend you start
there. If for some strange reason you still cannot find the email then feel
free to send another invitation. If the problem persists then please inform us
so we can solve the issue as fast as possible.

When using Localnoodles Message, to whom can I send email?
Localnoodles Message is for members only (like the much outdated clothing line)
therefore you can only send messages to other members. More reasons to make
friends!! |
Can I send email to all of my Localnoodles friends at once?
Yes you can! Compose your message then simply check the box next to "Send to
all my Localnoodles friends" to the right of the "To:" column. Don't forget to
click "Send Message" at the bottom before exiting.

I posted something on Gab but now cannot find it. What should I do?
If you posted something on Gab and now cannot locate it click "See all my
posts" just above and to the right of the Gab search button. If that doesn't
work then try the Gab search function itself. If you still cannot find your
post then please let us know so we can track down the problem as soon as

The Localnoodles Gab categories don't cover my question. Can I create a
conversation that addresses my question?
Yes you can however we encourage you to file conversations under logical
categories so others will be able to quickly find and respond to your questions
or comments. To start a new conversation simply click the button named "Start a
new conversation". From there I think you'll know what to do. If not, let us
know so we can make it clearer.

My friend is a Localnoodles member but I don't know how to locate his or
her profile. How can I find it?
There are quite a few ways but the easiest is to use the member search. Start
by searching for the person's first name. Didn't work? Try their email address.
If you are still unable to locate your friend then give him a call and ask what
email address he used when he signed up. Another way to find a Localnoodles
member is to look at the review section. Each review is associated with the
person that made it. |
I typed in his last name but still can't find the profile. What can I do?
The fastest way is to try his first name. If that doesn't work give your friend
a call and ask what email address he used. If your friend sent you a review use
it to link back to his or her profile. Additionally, if you remember what his
review was about then use the Localnoodles search function the same way you
would Google, Yahoo, etc. Put in what you remember and who knows what you'll
find!

What is the difference between "Account" and "Profile"?
Generally speaking, your Localnoodles account handles website preferences
(change password, email address, saved locations, etc.), while your profile
deals with how you are viewed by others (reviews, friends, compliments, etc.). |
What can I do in the account section?
The account section manages your Localnoodles website preferences. Members can
change their profile details, change or add new email addresses, change their
personal account information, change their account password, update their email
notification preferences, edit friends list, and update their saved locations.

Does it cost money to be a Localnoodles member?
No, membership is free. Go out and buy more local noodles!

What does being a member get me?
Members can build lists of favorite places, bookmark important businesses,
communicate with other members, ask others for advice on local issues and write
reviews of their own. Use Localnoodles Guides to show an upcoming visitor
interesting places s/he has to choose from when arriving. Use Localnoodles
bookmarks to keep track of interesting things to do, places to visit, or
restaurants and events to try. And if you've got a tough question, you can

What do you do with my account information?
We will not share your information to outside parties. We ask for your email
address in order to make it your user ID. Like many other websites we prefer to
use your email address because it's not easily forgotten. Unlike other
websites, WE WILL NOT SELL YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS. Other account information is
simply used to round out your profile. Localnoodles staff realizes that if it
weren't for you we wouldn't be here so we aim to do right by you.

Why do lawyers write such rubbish?
We think it's between the second and third semesters that law students learn
how to write in such an unintelligible manner. Long hours of memorization,
consuming un-Godly amounts of coffee, and wearing form fitting suits are all
possible contributing factors.
